I completed the fully integrated pilot training course at AFTA and left feeling very impressed. AFTA were very helpful even prior to beginning the course by helping put me in touch with other students and arranging accommodation for my time training.
From day one the very friendly staff and instructors made me feel at home.
The most challenging part of the course for me was the ATPL exams. However, the academy where theoretical training was carried out has great facilities to aid with studying such as quiet classrooms, WiFi and kitchen to make the all important coffee. This along with the high quality instruction and study material on iPads provided by the school helped me with my success in exams.

I went on to complete my practical training, completing my PPL on Cessna 172 and CPL/MEIR on the state of the art Diamond DA42 Twin Engine aircraft. I thoroughly enjoyed getting to fly across different parts of Ireland to other airports such as Waterford, Kerry, Shannon to name a few. The quality of instruction was second to none. I found all instructors to be extremely friendly and helpful if I had any queries on the ground and in the air I was made feel at ease and all things were explained and demonstrated to perfection. Instructors put you through your paces and test your knowledge frequently to help make you the best pilot you can be whilst also having a good laugh at the same time.

One of the most enjoyable parts of the training for me was the MCC/APS completed in a highly advanced Boeing 737-800 simulator. This gave me a great introduction in to real world airline procedures and jet handling. Once again, the instruction was top class with all instructors having a wealth of knowledge and experience operating jets in the airline industry.

Overall, I found that my training at AFTA was thoroughly enjoyable and I highly recommend to future pilots considering going there to train. Whilst it is challenging, all the staff, facilities and aircraft make it a great environment to train in.
